RCB Celebrate First IPL title in Bengaluru

After 18 seasons of unwavering commitment and countless moments of heartbreak, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) finally got their hands on the coveted Indian Premier League (IPL) trophy, defeating Punjab Kings (PBKS) by six runs in a thrilling final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The victory was especial for Virat Kohli, who has been with the franchise since its inception in 2008. Kohli dedicated the win to former teammates AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle, acknowledging their contributions to the team’s journey

“This win is for every RCB fan, for AB de Villiers, for Chris Gayle, and for every single player who has worn this jersey,” Kohli said after the win, his eyes filled with emotion.

The city of Bengaluru erupted in joy as fans gathered to celebrate RCB’s long-awaited victory. A victory parade was organized, with plans for the team to travel from Vidhana Soudha to M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in an open-top bus. The atmosphere was electric, with chants of “Kohli! Kohli!” echoing through the streets

Kohli ended his Test career, having played 123 Tests, in which he scored 9230 runs at an average of 46.85. He smashed 30 centuries and 31 fifties in his 14-year-long career in whites.

Tragically, the celebrations outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium led to a stampede, resulting in at least 11 fatalities. The joy turned to mourning as fans and officials alike expressed grief.
